Those who enjoy the outdoors have ample opportunities available in Jackson County.  Ten fishing lakes are situated with 20 miles of Ripley:  Elk Fork Lake, Frozen Camp Lake, O’Brien Lake and Wiblin Fork Lake are part of the Mill Creek Watershed System.

Rollins Lake is located near the community of Evans. Woodrum Lake is in southern Jackson County, near Kentuck.

Four fishing lakes are located within Cedar Lakes Conference Center. Anglers may also like Parchment Valley’s campground.

Cabin accommodations are available at Statts Mill and Rippling Waters.

Good kayaking opportunities are to be found at Rollins, Elk Fork, Woodrum and along the 22-mile Mill Creek Water Trail. The water trail begins at Cedar Lakes and terminates at the Ohio River with put-in locations at Ripley, Evans, Cottageville and Millwood.

Jackson County typically ranks among West Virginia’s leaders in deer and wild turkey harvests.  Hunting is allowed at the Frozen Camp and Woodrum Lake Wildlife Management areas.
