FUN IN RIPLEY!

Known as “America’s Largest Small-Town Independence Celebration,” Ripley’s Fourth of July is the oldest and largest in West Virginia.

The town rolls out the red, white and blue carpet for several days each summer with free concerts, a carnival, 2-mile race, 200-unit parade and fireworks. The event has attracted a U.S. President in 2002 and received national exposure on “The Today Show” in 1965.

See Ripley4thofJuly.us for the schedule of events.

The Jackson County Junior Fair is another summertime favorite. Located at the fairgrounds in Cottageville, this event features Nashville entertainment, motor sports, a carnival, horse shows and several agricultural-related activities.

A complete schedule may be found at JacksonCountyJrFair.com.

In the spring, Ripley is the site of the West Virginia Chocolate Festival. Activities include a parade followed by an indoor event with free entertainment and dozens of chocolate-related venders.

In the autumn, Ripley again showcases its patriotism on Veterans Day. The unique parade features hundreds of photo posters of veterans and current military personnel. The parade leads to a ceremony on the lawn of the Jackson County Courthouse.

Throughout the year, Ripley actively engages with the public – from Ripley on Sale in May to races throught the year – there is something for everyone.
